Red Devils - Vincent Kompany returns to the national team

Roberto Martinez has selected 27 players, including four goalies, for the last two games of the season. The Red Devils will play against the Czech Republic in a friendly on Monday (5 June) in Brussels (8:45pm) and four days later on Friday 9 June, against Estonia in Tallinn (20:45 Belgian), in a qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

As expected, this selection welcomes the return of Vincent Kompany. The 31-year-old central defender has regained his place in the Manchester City base eleven after a long absence for various injuries since March 2016. He scored three goals in eight Premier League matches.

Kompany has not played for the Red Devils since the 3-1 victory against Israel on 13 October 2015 in a qualifying at Euro 2016. He was selected for the friendly match in the Netherlands (1-1) and on 9 November 2016 in Amsterdam but had to declare a forfeit just before kick-off.

Mousa Dembélé (left foot) and Thomas Meunier (left ankle) were both injured and operated on and are unavailable.

In the selection, there are three midfielders playing in the Belgian league: Anderlecht Yuri Tielmans (who will soon endorse the AS Monaco jersey) and Leander Dendoncker as well as Gantois Thomas Foket.

Belgium will face the Czech Republic in a friendly on Monday 5 June. Four days later, the Red Devils, leaders of Group H (13 points), will go to Estonia for a qualifying at the 2018 World Cup. Martinez's men will try to resume their march forward after the home-conceded draw against Greece (1-1), second in the group (11 points).

Before that, they will meet their supporters on the occasion of a 'Family Day' in Brussels on Saturday.
