New investors for the Sports marketing bureau Golazo
Golazo is responsible for organising Brussels marathon and many other major sporting events.

A group of Belgian and Dutch investors, including Johnny Thijs (ex-bpost) and Duco Sickinghe (ex-Telenet) have invested in the Sports marketing bureau Golazo. De Tijd reported on the story on Saturday. The new investors have bought 20% of the shares.

Golazo has become a major sports event organiser in Europe over the years. They have been involved in organising events like the Antwerp Ten Miles and the Brussels Marathon. The mobile applications and online platforms now have 10 million users. Golazo’s boss, Bob Verbeeck, had been the unique owner of the entire company up until now.

The new investors have to provide cold hard cash as well as their experience and networks. The boss hopes the investment will aid him in his plan for international growth. “We had the choice between being bought by a major foreign company or growing our own way. We choose the second option”, Bob Verbeeck told De Tijd.
