An injury to the ligament of Kevin De Bruyne’s left knee will keep him off the field for 5 to 6 weeks, his club, Manchester City, confirmed on Friday. De Bruyne sustained the injury during a League match against Fulham on Thursday, and underwent a knee scan on Friday. Manchester City said he suffered an injured ligament in the left knee. While an operation is not necessary, he should be absent between five and six weeks, the club stated.
De Bruyne hurt his left knee when he clashed with an opposing player, Fosu-Mensah, who fell on him, and left the field limping. The Red Devil had already been on the bench for two months due to an injury to an external ligament in his right knee. He only returned to the competition about 10 days ago.
His new injury is also a hard blow for Belgian coach Roberto Martinez, who will be without his playmaker for their last two League of Nation tussles, at home against Iceland on 15 November and away to Switzerland on 18 November.
