A fan area around the Den Dreef Stadium in Leuven will be set up for the Red Flames’ four home games for the women’s Euro 2021, the Belgian Football Association (URBSFA) announced on Thursday.
This is a first for women’s football in Belgium, the Belgian FA said.
Belgium’s FA will provide a fan zone for home games against Croatia (3 Sept.), Lithuania (12 Nov.), Switzerland (14 April 2020) and Romania (18 Sept. 2020) “in order to motivate the crowds and to strengthen the link between the Red Flames and their fans,” the FA said.
The fan zone will open 90 minutes before each home game’s kick-off. The fans will have at their disposal a Panna field, a bowling alley, a photo booth, and DJ sets. “The atmosphere will be warm before the kick-off and the Red Flames will experience the real advantage of playing at home,” the FA explained.
“We have big plans for women’s football in Belgium. The Euro 2021 is an important step in this project,” FA’s marketing director Manu Leroy said. Other details of the project will be discussed at the first summit of women’s football to be held in Brussels on Tuesday 27 August.
