Israel: Belgian sentenced to 7 years’ imprisonment for spying for Iran

A Belgian citizen of Iranian descent was sentenced by an Israeli court to 7 years in prison for espionage for Iran on Tuesday, noted an AFP journalist present in the courtroom in Lod, near Tel Aviv. Ali Mansouri, born in Iran but holding Belgian citizenship after marrying a Belgian woman in 2002, was arrested on September 11th, 2013 at the Ben-Gurion international airport, near Tel Aviv, in possession of pictures of the United States embassy in Tel Aviv and of other targets in Israel, according to Israeli counter-espionage.
