Tourists killed in Corsica – A Belgian still missing

We still don’t know what happened to a Belgian man after Wednesday’s accident in Corsica. At least three people were killed and several others were injured, the Foreign Affairs Minister Didier Reynders told the Belga agency. One of the people killed has not yet been formally identified, and two or three people are still missing.

Around a dozen Belgian and French walkers were trapped in the “Solitude Circus”, on the GR20 in High Corsica on Wednesday. They were caught in a storm. Three of the victims have died. Two of them are known to be French, but the third has not yet been identified. Many other people were also injured, two seriously. A Belgian, who suffered a head injury, is in the Bastia hospital. Although he is in a serious condition, his life is not in danger, Mr Reynders said.

Search parties started again on Thursday morning. The Foreign Affairs Minister is in regular contact with the walker’s families, local authorities, and the Belgian Consulate in Marseille.
