Belgian leader of Al-Nosra Front killed in the Idlib Governorate in Syria

There has been growing concern about a Belgian leader of the Al-Nosra Front (also known as The Support Front for the People of Al-Sham), the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda. He is thought to have been amongst the 16 members of the terrorist organisation killed during an air raid in the Idlib Governorate (province) in Syria.

So says Pieter Van Ostaeyen, an expert in jihadism, through information relayed on his blog.

This incident is feared to have concerned a man known only by the name of Abu Daoud al-Baljiki, about whom Mr Van Ostaeyen has very little information, other than that he has held “high offices” within the Al-Nosra Front.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) announced last Friday that an air raid had taken place in the province of Idlib Governorate, on the border with Turkey.
