Catalan attacks – Seven year old Julian Cadman confirmed dead

Julian Cadman, the seven year old boy who went missing after the Ramblas attack in Barcelona on Thursday evening, has been confirmed dead. The association SOS Desaparecidos (Missing SOS) announced it on its Twitter account on Sunday. Julian’s family has also confirmed that he was one of those killed during the attack, during which a van was used as a battering ram. 13 people were killed and over a hundred injured. Julian’s death was also confirmed by the Catalan police.

“Julian Cadman’s family has informed us that, unfortunately, he is one of the victims of the Barcelona attack”, the association wrote on social media. “At this hard, unjust and painful moment, we offer his family our condolences. Rest in peace.”

The police and Catalan civil protection service also confirmed the death of an Australian child with dual British nationality.

Julian Cadman’s photograph spread rapidly around the world via social media after his grandfather launched an appeal from Australia, where Julian’s family lives. The little boy had dual British and Australian nationality, and had been missing since Thursday evening. His mother, who is still in hospital, was injured during the Ramblas attack. She is seriously injured, but stable. His father, Andrew Cadman, recently arrived in Barcelona, where Spanish authorities were waiting for him.
