The EU’s head of democracy Federica Mogherini called for a thorough investigation into the “extremely troubling” death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi on Saturday. She wants those responsible to be punished.
A statement from her department says “the European Union and its partners want a thorough credible and transparent investigation, to shed some light on the circumstances surrounding his death and force those behind it to accept responsibility”.
