A Belgian and a Frenchman arrested in Argentina for stealing fossils

A Belgian and a Frenchman have been arrested in the Neuquén Province in Argentina. They were transporting fossils considered national heritage, the news site Ecuavisa reported on Sunday.

Argentinian police arrested two individuals at a road block. Law enforcement officers found seven ammonites and four stones containing fossils in their possession.

According to local authorities, these fossils have a market value of 5,000 euros on the European market.

Police informed the Zapala federal court, who ordered the material seized. It is not known whether there will be any charges.
