Golf: Belgium's Thomas Detry swings his way from 57th to 4th place in Round 2 of the DP World Tour

With a second round of 66 shots, five under par, Belgian golfer Thomas Detry shot his way up to the top tier of the standings on Friday at the €1,750,000 Cazoo Open (DP World Tour) in Newport, Wales.

After a first round of 72, the 29-year-old Bruxellois was only in 57th place. He is now in fourth position with Jack Senior of the United Kingdom.

Detry made seven birdies during the second round and conceded two bogeys, the best result of the day. At the tournament’s halfway mark, the Belgian is now three strokes behind France’s Julien Guerrier, who leads alone, with American Johannes Veerman and the United Kingdom’s Callum Shinkwin two strokes behind the Frenchman.

Nicolas Colsaerts, who is making his international comeback after health problems, was 137th after a first round in 78 moves. The player from Brussels did four shots better on Friday. With a total of 152 shots, he is now in 122nd place.
