Belgium was eliminated at the end of the group stage of the Boys’ Under-18 Eurobasket competition (Division B) following Sweden’s 78-67 victory over Finland in the final match of Group D on Wednesday in Blejoi, Romania.

The Young Lions ended their group phase with three victories, whipping Austria by 82-49 on Tuesday, after crushing Cyprus by 67-23 and beating Sweden by 68-58. However, they lost to Finland (49-79).

Belgium, Finland and Sweden all ended on 7 points. However, both Scandinavian teams won their direct confrontations with Belgium, so they advance to the quarterfinals.

The Belgians, third in their group ahead of Austria (5 points) and Cyprus (4 points), will play their first classification match on Friday against Hungary, fourth in Group C.
