On Sunday afternoon, Club Brugge played their first match under new coach Scott Parker against the Jupiler Pro League leaders Genk. However, Parker and Brugge ended up on the losing side as they were defeated 3-1.

Last season's league champions Club Brugge faced current league leaders Genk on Sunday, a difficult challenge for Brugge's new head coach Scott Parker.

Appointed last weekend, Parker has been tasked with returning the club back to the top of the table, after falling to fourth place under his predecessor Carl Hoefkens.

His debut started off pretty well too after Brugge went up thanks to a goal from Hans Vanaken at the 21st minute. However, Genk quickly retaliated through Carlos Cuesta who equalised to make it 1-1.

After half-time however, Club Brugge did not have enough to stop the league leaders from going in front as their Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu scored at the 67th minute to make it 2-1. Parker's debut was made worse 10 minutes later as Brugge's defender Abakar Sylla was sent off, before Genk scored a third to send their fans home happy.

This leaves Club Brugge in fourth place with 34 points, having only amassed two points from the last twelve games, where as Genk confirmed their status at the top of the league standings with a 10 point lead.
