Belgium began the defence of their world title with a 5-0 victory over South Korea in the first round of Group B of the Hockey World Cup on Saturday in Bhubaneswar, India.
In the first half, the Red Lions broke the South Korean lock in the third quarter with goals from Alexander Hendrickx, on pc (30th), and Tanguy Cosyns (42nd).
In the last fifteen minutes, Florent Van Aubel, on a pc (49th), Sébastien Dockier (51st) and Arthur De Sloover (57th) fixed the final score at 5-0.
Belgium is joint top at the top of group B, after Germany beat Japan 3-0. On Tuesday 17 January, the Red Lions will face Germany at 14:30 and then Japan on Friday 20 January at 12:30.
