The United Nations Security Council on Wednesday condemned recent attacks on the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), calling on “all parties” to respect the safety of the peacekeepers.

The Council's members "urged all parties to take all measures to respect the safety and security of UNIFIL personnel and premises," the Security Council said in a statement. "They recalled that peacekeepers must never be the target of an attack."

The Security Council did not name the perpetrators but listed the dates of several incidents.

On 29 October, a rocket likely fired by the militant Lebanese organisation Hezbollah or its allies struck the UNIFIL headquarters.

On 7 November, five peacekeepers were injured in an Israeli attack.

And on 8 November, UNIFIL accused the Israeli military of deliberately and directly damaging one of its positions.
