Global warming tops the list of people's concerns around the world, according to the ninth “Future Risks Report” by insurer Axa, published on Monday.

Last year, cyber risks were at the top of the list of American experts, while the pandemic was number one in Asia.

To classify the risks, Axa interviewed 4,500 risk experts from 58 countries and 20,000 other people from 15 countries.

This is the first time, global warming has been unanimously rated by the experts. Geopolitical risks came second, followed by cyber-related ones. As an indirect consequence of geopolitical tensions, energy-related risks are now in fourth place, up from 17th last year.

For the first time, three economic risks - financial instability, macroeconomic deterioration, and currency tensions - appear in the top 10 as they fuel social tensions.

Where the general population is concerned, the feeling of vulnerability remains at a very high level (80% of the 20,000 people surveyed feel more vulnerable than five years ago) while confidence in certain categories of decision-makers (public authorities, private companies and scientists in particular) is deteriorating.
