At least five people have been killed and 27 others injured in a Russian attack on an apartment building in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, in eastern Ukraine, report local authorities.

"Five people are already dead and 27 have been injured and hospitalised, including six children,” Dnipro Governor Valentin Reznichenko said on Telegram. Fifteen people have been reportedly rescued from the rubble.

In light of the attack, Ukraine Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has urged the G7 and its allies to implement more sanctions.

"Each barrage of missiles further exhausts Russian stocks. However, they are still able to produce new ones. We can and must kill their missile and drone industry with a mass sanctions strike," Kuleba said.

The presidential administration in Kyiv published photos and videos of the building in ruins. Andrij Jermak, leader of the administration, is appalled. “Russians are terrorists who should be punished for everything,” he said.

The anti-aircraft systems and the air force are helping protect Ukrainians from further strikes, yet it is clear that some do manage to bypass these system. “We will strike back,” he also said.

According to Jermak, Russia is not changing tactics and are continuing attacks on civilian infrastructure. The air alert sounded across the country on Saturday. This is the first major Russian attack since the beginning of the year.
