The criminal court in Eupen handed down a judgment on Monday in a major theft case, containing several parts. Eleven people were prosecuted for thefts of goods from the transport and logistics company DB Schenker in Eupen, in the province of Liège.
Among the defendants, three were also suspected of a home invasion committed on 21 April 2017 in Verviers (about 15 km from Eupen), at the home of an employee of Trendy Foods, a company active in the food trade and located in the Petit-Rechain zoning.
Despite elements such as the analysis of the telephone system or the DNA of one of the suspects found on the clothes worn by the burglars, the defendants were acquitted of these charges.

The suspects denied being the perpetrators of these incidents and due to the lack of evidence, they were acquitted by the court. As for the thefts from DB Schenker, the court was also lenient. Nine out of the eleven defendants were found guilty of stealing Nike merchandise from the warehouse for a loss of €400,000.
Depending on their role, they will receive sentences ranging from 60 to 300 hours of work. They must also pay, jointly and severally, the costs of the proceedings, which amount to around €25,000.
