This week saw the first-ever state visit on behalf of Belgian Royals to South Africa, with King Philippe and Queen Mathilde meeting dignitaries as well as local children in the South African capital of Johannesburg.

The children even got the King to test-ride one of their skateboards on Friday, though he may want to check the state of his shoes afterwards.

Wednesday saw the Pairi Daiza zoo welcome a new animal to its ranks with the birth of a baby giraffe.

Various ceremonies were held in tribute to the bombings' victims, including one on Rue de la Loi at which the Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo was present to pay his respects.
