The British airline Flybe has announced it will cancel all its scheduled flights with immediate effect, as it is ceasing its operations.
The company was saved from bankruptcy after difficulties linked to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, but was relaunched last April.
The comeback was short-lived, and the airline finally announced on Saturday it is filing for bankruptcy.
The company flies from Belfast, Birmingham and Manchester, and the UK Aviation Authority has urged passengers not to go to the airport on Saturday if they had a scheduled flight with Flybe.
Before announcing its closure in March 2020, the company operated most of the UK’s domestic routes between non-London airports.
It was saved by the financial purchase of its assets by Thyme Opco, linked to the hedge fund Cyrus Capital. In April 2022, Flybe made a return with the aim of operating up to 530 flights a week on 23 routes.
