Billund Airport in Central Denmark has been evacuated following a bomb scare on Saturday morning which led to a man’s arrest, Danish police have confirmed.

No flights are currently taking off or landing, and no resumption time has yet been announced.

This was made clear with the airport’s online platform displaying several cancelled flights scheduled for early afternoon departures for Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Barcelona.

Police are investigating any potential connection between the bomb scare and an ATM explosion in Billund, which occurred around 4am on Saturday.

As Denmark’s second largest airport, Billund is close to the headquarters of famed toy brick manufacturer Lego, as well as the popular Legoland theme park.
