A 17-year-old boy was stabbed in Antwerp city centre on Saturday night. He was critically injured in the attack but police have confirmed that his condition is now stable.

The incident occurred around 01:00 at a party on Lange Klarenstraat, in the city centre, near the famous Meir shopping street.

The victim was reportedly unwelcome at the party, and his presence led to an argument that moved from the house onto the street. This fight eventually culminated in the stabbing.

The teenager was severely injured and hospitalised at the hospital ZNA Cadix, where his life was shortly at risk. Later in the day on Sunday, the local police confirmed that his life was no longer in mortal danger.

The judicial lab came to the scene for a trace investigation and four people have been taken in by the police for questioning, but it remains unclear whether any of these individuals is the perpetrator. No one has been arrested so far.
