The local Carma police (covering Genk, As, Oudsbergen, Zutendaal, Houthalen-Helchteren, Brée, Bocholt, Kinrooi) were alerted to an illegal tuning meeting around 21:30 on Saturday evening.

Police promptly responded to the site with numerous squads and drones, subsequently cordoning off the industrial zone. After some time, between 500 and 1,000 vehicles had converged on the location.
Participants hailed from the Netherlands, Germany, and France. Details for the gathering, including the location and time, were circulated via social media.
