The free event 505-Concerts for Humanity in Antwerp reached its maximum capacity of 10,000 attendees at around 16:00 on Sunday, according to the local police.
The organisers temporarily halted entry, making the Sint-Jansplein square exit-only. Early birds could already catch performances from artists like Portland, Wannes Cappelle, Flip Kowlier and Gregory Frateur, among others.
Between performances, speakers shared messages of solidarity and humanity on topics like healthcare, education and the situation in Gaza.
An impressive 60 artists and speakers took to the stage throughout Sunday, with all acts reflecting the event’s positive message, while showcasing new topical songs about current affairs.
Notably, Absynthe Minded frontman Bert Ostyn performed a song he recently wrote about the death of student Sanda Dia.
The concerts will continue until 22:00 on Sunday night. Attendees can look forward to appearances by several enchanting artists, including Selah Sue, Zwangere Guy, Warhaus and Eefje De Visser.
Those unable to gain entry can follow a livestream on the event’s website.
