The Antwerp Criminal Court convicted seven individuals on Monday for their involvement in a violent raid on the apartment that rapper Para Turk shares with his uncle and 85-year-old grandmother.
The group received prison sentences of up to 30 months, some of them partially suspended.
Para Turk himself was also convicted for inciting a grenade attack against the raid’s instigator.
At 9.30 p.m. on 31 January 2023, Para Turk called the police to report that several armed individuals had broken into his North Antwerp apartment, ransacked it and physically assaulted him. He identified one of the attackers as 23-year-old Ramzan D., with whom he had previously argued on TikTok.
Ramzan D. confirmed having a conflict with Para Turk, stemming from a rap battle in which he supported Para Turk’s opponent. Following the battle, Para Turk insulted and threatened Ramzan D.’s mother and sister during a live session.
According to Ramzan D., Para Turk also posted a photo of him on his Snapchat account on 30 January 2023, with the message "Wanted” and offering €2,000 to anyone who gave him a 'pomme' (lit. 'apple,' slang for grenade).
Ramzan D. could not take that, and went to Para Turk's apartment with his friends the next day. The rapper apologised, but that was not enough for Ramzan D. Along with three companions, he entered the apartment and a fight broke out with Para Turk.
One of the group filmed the entire incident, and the other people involved were identified thanks to those images plus footage from neighbourhood cameras.
