Zinneke Parade returns to Brussels with a new ritual

The Zinneke Parade in Brussels is a joyful and colourful celebration that happens every two years and will take place this year on Saturday June 1st in the centre of the city.

Zinneke Parade returns to Brussels with a new ritual

The Zinneke Parade is just like one big street party where everyone is invited to join in - people from all different neighbourhoods and backgrounds, and all ages come together to create fantastic floats, wear cool costumes, and dance to lively music.

This is the time when the streets of Brussels will come alive with creativity and excitement!

Theme

Each Zinneke Parade has a theme which usually inspires all the creative floats and performances, it could be about dreams, nature, or even something as simple and wonderful as laughter. It’s a way to tie everything together and make the parade a cohesive and magical experience for everyone.

The theme for this edition will be 'Plaizir'.

New ritual

For the 13th edition of the festival, the Zinneke Parade welcomes a bold and inspiring new initiative, which is 'Les Bastard.es Van Bruxelles'.

This ritual is anchored in an ancestral tradition and promises to become a lasting symbol for the people of Brussels. It invites participants to adopt a pole representing their neighbourhood, their living environment and their community.

Collective dance to celebrate diversity

On the day of the parade, the Van Brussels Bastard.es will gather for the 'Dance of the Bastard.es'. This concentric round dance symbolizes connection and the pleasure of being together, of looking at each other and getting closer, thus creating a strong bond between individuals and groups.

From the periphery to the center, this dance weaves a network of solidarity and conviviality.

Grand finale on the stock market

On June 1, during the Zinneke Parade, the Bastard.es Van Bruxelles will conclude the event with a huge intertwining at the Stock Exchange.

This symbolic act brings together all participants in a celebration of diversity and cultural cohabitation.
