The Office of the Public Prosecutor at the Charleroi Criminal Court requested prison sentences of four and five years respectively for Lenny L. and Mehdi E.H.
The two men, detained at Jamioulx prison, confessed to robbing a pharmacy in Leval-Trahegnies (Hainaut).
On 31 March 2022, the pair, armed with a hatchet and a fake gun, stormed the pharmacy. Two employees were tied up in the office as they searched for the safe. Lenny L. and Mehdi E.H then escaped in a vehicle, taking with them medication, the two victims’ mobile phones, and €650. Traces of blood collected from the scene were later identified as Lenny L.’s.
Following the incident, a search was conducted at the first suspect’s residence. “He confessed and explained that the robbery had been planned the previous day," the Prosecution stated. "He wore gloves to hide his tattoos. He provided details to identify his accomplice, who, upon his arrest, also admitted his involvement. Interestingly, he claimed the robbery was due to a drug-related debt.”
The prosecutor called for four and five years of imprisonment for the two perpetrators, but did not object to a partial suspension on probation.
The two defence lawyers, however, asked for a sentence of less than five years, part of it suspended.
The verdict is expected on 10 June.
