Google has announced that the mobile app for its artificial intelligence model Gemini is now available in Belgium, allowing users to access its AI assistant "on the go".
The tech giant first launched Gemini in December 2023, calling it a "major milestone in the evolution of AI and the beginning of a new era."
Gemini is Google's offering in an increasingly crowded AI software market, and aims to compete against Microsoft-backed OpenAI's platform ChatGPT.
On Wednesday, Google announced that it is rolling out the Gemini mobile app to more countries and territories across Europe and the United Kingdom, including Belgium.
The company says the app is an important first step towards building a "conversational, multimodal and helpful" AI assistant, as users can type, talk or add an image to the AI platform through the mobile app, and Gemini can generate text, code and image based responses.
Android users can access Gemini by downloading the Gemini app or opting in through Google Assistant. For iOS users, Google said it will roll out access to Gemini directly through the Google app in the coming weeks.
