The Namur prosecutor’s office reported on Friday that one individual was stabbed 15 times on the l’Enjambée footbridge in Namur on Thursday evening, with a bystander also getting caught up in the attack.
The victim was pursued by multiple individuals on the pedestrian-cyclist bridge, which links central Namur to the municipality of Jambes, before the assault ensued.
The stab wounds were inflicted on their legs and their condition is severe. The witness, who attempted to intervene, received a stab wound on their buttocks.
As of Friday evening, the prosecutor’s office had not disclosed information regarding the attackers. Investigations are ongoing.
