Maintenance works are set to start this evening from 20:00 until 6:00 on Friday in and around the Groenendael tunnel on the Brussels Ring Road.

With these works, there may be slight changes to traffic conditions during the night, says the Flemish Agency for Roads and Traffic.

Although originally set to end in April, work was delayed due to excessively cold temperatures. From Monday night, the contractor will begin paving the outer ring (towards Zaventem) between the Groenendael tunnel and the border with the Brussels municipality of Auderghem. Both lanes and on-off ramps near Groenendael and Hoeilaart will be refurbished.

The Groenendael tunnel towards Zaventem will be closed from 20:00 today until Tuesday at 06:00, with traffic rerouted above ground.

From Tuesday night to Wednesday morning, a detour will be in place for accessing the outer ring to the Leonard crossroads from Groenendael. Motorists will need to take the inner ring towards Waterloo and turn around at Argenteuil.

At the same time, re-asphalting work up to the border with Auderghem will begin on the right lane, continuing into Wednesday night.

Traffic will flow on the left lane while this takes place. Between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, the exit and access ramps at Hoeilaart, just before Auderghem, will also be closed.

Finally, work on the left lane will be carried out Thursday night into Friday, with road users directed to the freshly renovated right lane.
