The A503 is closed to traffic in the direction of Charleroi’s small ring road on Wednesday from 1 a.m. until evening, the Walloon Society for Supplementary Infrastructure Financing (SOFICO) said in a statement.
The closure is related to the construction of a new interchange linking the highway to the Charleroi-Central train station.
During these hours, asphalting will be done on the A503 and on Rue des Hiercheuses. Road users wishing to travel to Charleroi are advised to continue on the R3 and take other routes into the city, SOFICO stated.
Since the beginning of June, a lane has been closed to traffic on the A503 towards Charleroi, around Rue des Hiercheuses. This lane will remain closed until mid-July.
The interchange construction project, which began in March 2023, has a budget of €5.43 million. Scheduled for completion by Spring 2025, it is expected to offer road users new infrastructures by the end of 2024.
