Third person dies following fire in Liège Tower

A third individual has lost their life following the fire that broke out in the Kennedy Tower earlier this week in Liège, police has confirmed.

Initially, authorities reported two deaths, with two people remaining in intensive care as of Friday afternoon due to Monday’s fire. One of these hospitalised individuals has now succumbed.

The fire was caused by overheating within the tower’s vertical service duct.

The building remains completely off-limits to residents and is now uninhabitable. It has lost all electricity and gas supply.

A sizable portion of the building has also been overtaken by soot, and the electrical installation has been destroyed.
