The City of Brussels has launched 'Bruxelles’ écoute,' a programme to support local podcast creators, following the successful 'Bruxelles’écrit' initiative for writers.

Despite the growing popularity of the podcast industry in recent years, creators still face financial instability. To help rectify this, the city has set up an €8,000 fund aimed at supporting podcast creators.

In addition to the financial aid, the winner will also receive professional guidance from the non-profit Studio Balado organisation for podcast production, visual identity creation, and promotional activities.

The resulting podcast should showcase the city. The selected podcaster needs to create at least ten episodes exploring the history of Brussels and its inhabitants.

“Bruxelles’écoute not only supports podcast authors but also local sound creation, encouraging stories about Brussels through inspiring voices and captivating narratives,” Delphine Houba, the city's deputy mayor in charge of culture, explained.

Potential candidates must have already completed at least two audio projects. Applications can be made via www.bruxelles.be/appel-podcast.
