Swedish striker Gustaf Nilsson is set to leave Union Saint-Gilloise for Club Brugge, both clubs confirmed on Friday. Nilsson has signed a contract with the Belgian champions that extends until June 2028.
Having joined Union Saint-Gilloise in July 2022 from Wiesbaden, the 27-year-old Nilsson has shown impressive form.
In 93 appearances for the Unionists, he netted 27 goals – 17 of which were scored last season across all competitions. Further enhancing his record, he clinched the Belgian Cup with the Brussels club last season.
This on-field performance earned Nilsson a recall to the Swedish national team in March, marking a six-year hiatus from his last international appearance. To date, he has earned six national caps and scored three goals.
The addition of Nilsson marks the fourth acquisition by the Belgian champions, preceded by Ardon Jashari, Zaid Romero, and Christos Tzolis.

Among them were Ghanaian striker Mohammed Fuseini from Sturm Graz, Canadian attacker Promise "Tobi" David from Kalju FC, midfielder Kamiel Van De Perre from Genk, Israeli full-back Anan Khalaili from Maccabi Haifa, and goalkeeper Vic Chambaere, also from Genk. They also welcomed new coach Sébastien Pocognoli.
On the outgoing side, Union Saint-Gilloise have lost their manager Alexandre Blessin, their Algerian rising star Mohamed Amoura and now Casper Nillson.
