Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is reportedly in talks to acquire cybersecurity start-up Wiz, Bloomberg news agency and The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing anonymous sources.
Now valued at an estimated $23 billion, the purchase might be the largest in Alphabet’s history.
The New York-based Wiz was established in 2020. It was valued at $12 billion in a private funding round in May.
Two years ago, Alphabet bought cybersecurity company Mandiant for $5.4 billion. Its biggest acquisition to date has been Motorola Mobility in 2012, for $12.5 billion.
The sources cited by Bloomberg and Wall Street Journal emphasise, however, that the negotiations are ongoing and could still collapse.
