Belgium's Foreign Ministry is organising its biannual 'Focus on Belgium' photo contest to showcase the country's many aspects in all their glory.
This year, the competition's topic is 'The four seasons' in Belgium. Come rain or shine, Belgium's heritage, folklore, gastronomy, and sports are an impressive sight.
"We live in a beautiful country and this photo competition is a great way to see Belgium through the many different human perspectives," a member of the Focus on Belgium team told The Brussels Times.
100% Belgian gifts
The contest is open to everyone, whether from Belgium or abroad, as long as they are at least 18 years old. The best 20 photos will be rewarded with "100% Belgian gifts" and will also be published on the Ministry's Facebook page, where they will be put to a public vote.
Of the 20 finalists, one photo will receive the jury prize and another will be awarded the public prize. Both winners will also receive gift vouchers worth €250. "At the end of the contest, the 20 selected photos will be used to promote our country around the world."
Photos don't have to be taken with a professional camera: smartphone photos are also accepted. Only colour, digital photos in the following file formats are accepted: .jpg, .jpeg and .png. Photos must be sent in their original format (which must not exceed 8MB) and without date or inscription.
