A man was injured in a knife attack in Schaerbeek, Brussels, on Monday evening, with two suspects subsequently arrested, according to Brussels-North police.

The incident unfolded around 6:20 PM at Square Apollo in Schaerbeek. “A patrol was dispatched to the scene in response to reports of a person having sustained a leg injury from knife wounds inflicted by several people,” police spokesperson,  Katlien Breugelmans, said.

Upon arriving, officers were informed by a local that a knife-wielding individual had fled towards chaussée de Haecht. “The suspect was apprehended a few streets away and the knife was also found closeby and seized,” Breugelmans stated.

The victim was treated by emergency services and is not in life-threatening condition, the spokesperson confirmed.

Both the apprehended suspect and a second individual, also suspected, have been detained. The investigation is ongoing.
