A man who drove his vehicle into a terrace in Paris on Wednesday, killing one person and injuring six others, has been arrested, the Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed.
Three of the six injured persons are said to be in critical condition.
The incident occurred at around 7.30 p.m. on Avenue du Père Lachaise, in Paris’ 20th Arrondissement, close to a well-known cemetery.
The driver had fled the scene but was later apprehended. He has been detained on suspicion of committing involuntary manslaughter, among other things.
One of his passengers reportedly tested positive for both drugs and alcohol.
