The deadline for submitting tax returns online, extended by three days due to technical issues, ends Friday, 19 July at midnight.
On Wednesday evening, the Federal Public Service (FPS) Finance had already received about 2.2 million declarations via Tax-on-Web.
The deadline for submitting paper declarations, set for 30 June, has passed. The exact number of paper declarations will be known in September, but the FPS expects to receive roughly 200,000 out of a total of 7.4 million this year.
Over half of Belgian taxpayers have been offered a simplified declaration (4.1 million). In previous years, nearly 90% of these were correct. "This suggests that, this year, about 3.8 million simplified declarations should not require any changes,” an FPS Finance spokesperson said.
Those with specific incomes have a longer deadline for their declaration submission. Consequently, the deadline for taxpayers with certain independent or foreign professional revenues is 16 October — this involves roughly 1.4 million declarations.
