King Philippe underscored the urgency of budget management amid recurring crises during his National Day speech on Saturday.

In his address, the King urged political parties to capitalise on existing convergences to formulate a coherent national plan. The appeal comes at a time when multiple coalition formations are in progress.

"Despite democracy facing challenges in several countries, it remains strong here," he said. "In my dialogue with political leaders, I detected no bitterness or triumphalism, just a constructive and dignified attitude."

In keeping with changing political climates, Philippe supported efforts towards "an economy that strengthens our country's global standing." This included safeguarding production, increasing competitiveness and capitalising on the favourable European context for re-industrialisation.

He also advocated cooperation between public and private sectors in numerous fields such as education, research and employment.

Addressing the "undeniable budgetary urgency," Philippe outlined two guidelines: assure that reforms enhance the quality of public services – crucial for societal cohesion and national image – and "craft a unifying project that resonates with people, fostering mutual support and civic engagement."

The Head of State emphasised the revival of the European Union's unifying project. He underlined the profound influence of this supranational body over its 450 million people's lives, its importance for maintaining independence from external forces, along with its multi-themed roles such as combating climate change, preserving biodiversity and promoting peace.
