The inaugural men’s street skateboarding event at the Paris Olympics has been postponed from Saturday to Monday due to poor weather conditions, announced the organisers on the day of the event.
In a statement, the organising committee explained that a meeting held earlier on Saturday with all concerned organisers resulted in the decision to reschedule the male skateboarding event.
It was initially due to begin at 12:00 at Place de la Concorde with the preliminary phase, followed by the final at 17:00 on Saturday. The opening ceremony on Friday took place in heavy rain.
An urban park was set up in central Paris, between the Tuileries Garden and Champs-Elysées, which the skateboarding event shares with freestyle BMX, breaking, and 3×3 basketball.
The street skateboarding, a discipline that debuted at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, involves performing tricks in an area resembling urban furniture complete with rails, benches, ramps, or stairs.
