A 93-year-old man who had barricaded himself in his home in Destelbergen, East Flanders, was found dead by a special unit of the federal police on Thursday.
The 93-year-old man had barricaded himself in his home on Hooistraat in Heusden, a town in Destelbergen municipality, following a family dispute, according to a statement by the local prosecutor’s office.
Other family members present in the house were able to leave.
A federal police special unit was summoned and found the man’s lifeless body, confirming that he had committed suicide earlier that evening.
