FLOW, the open-air swimming pool by the canal in the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht, will transform into an open-air cinema this weekend, screening several alternative films after an evening swim or sauna.
The Capital Region's only open-air bathing spot has been hugely popular on warm days. But more than just a place to swim, it hosts other events as well. Earlier this summer it welcomed "Fluctuations", a festival travelling along European waterways to mobilise people on social, environmental and democratic topics.
This Saturday, visitors can get cosy beside the water for "Flowing Frames", a showcase of alternative films. "Join us to celebrate our love for cinema, discover unique films, and enjoy a drink with other movie enthusiasts," said Paul Steinbrück, POOL IS COOL founder and organiser of the event.

The last swim and sauna sessions will finish around 19:45. After a short introduction, 14 documentary, fictional, and experimental short films will be screened for just over an hour, mostly by Belgian, but also by Tunisian, Palestinian and Iranian filmmakers.
The screenings cover a range of topics, from obsessions such as compulsive buying, hoarding and cleanliness to immigration and dysfunctional family relations. Afterwards, the bar will remain open until 23:00 so people can linger and discuss the screening. All drinks and snacks bought at the bar go towards supporting the opening of the pool.
Entry to the screening is free and no reservation is needed. A maximum of 150 people can attend, on a "first come first served" basis. Steinbrück told The Brussels Times the event may be moved to Sunday in case of bad weather.
