Brussels-Cleanliness Agencywill conduct its Autumn 2024 mobile collection service for bulky items, recyclables, and waste in the Capital Region from 2 September to 31 October, the agency announced on Thursday.

“For this edition, several mobile recycling parks will once again offer the chance to give a second life to items brought in by the residents of Brussels,” the organisation said.

In practical terms, Brussels Cleanliness will install containers at various locations in the 14 participating municipalities to collect certain types of waste. Accepted items include furniture, small household appliances, multimedia equipment, tools, toys, plastic buckets, small household chemical waste such as paint and cooking oil, batteries, flat glass, and lamps

The agency will be in charge of planning, ensuring, and funding the logistics and treatment of the collected waste, while the municipalities will assure the presence onsite of municipal employees to guide citizens.

The mobile recycling parks will be open to residents of the municipality, who will need to present their ID cards.

In the Spring campaign, Brussels Cleanliness collected over 900 tonnes of bulky items, 108 tonnes of electrical and electronic equipment waste, and roughly 55 tonnes of small household waste.

Two organisations, Les petits riens and ViTasBE, will handle the recycling of certain items for reuse, a service available in Anderlecht, Berchem-Sainte-Agathe, Molenbeek, Schaerbeek, and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre.
