Outgoing Secretary of State for Economic Recovery and Strategic Investments, Thomas Dermine, heads the Socialist Party (PS) list for the Charleroi municipal elections on 13 October.
PS chairman Paul Magnette, the incumbent mayor, is in third place on the list, according to sources within the PS.
Dermine, aged 38, is thus the PS candidate for the post of mayor. He was elected to the Walloon parliament on 9 June.
Magnette, who secured a place in the Chamber, aims to lead the opposition at the federal level.
Councillor Julie Patte secured the second place on the PS list for Charleroi.
At the last local elections, held in 2018, the PS secured 41.29% of the votes.
