The forecast predicts dry weather on Saturday, expecting highs near 30°C in some areas before evening storms hit.
According to the latest predictions from the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM), Saturday morning will start off dry with low clouds covering the north-western half of the country and some valleys.
These are expected to disappear quickly, making way for an alternation of medium-level clouds and bright spells. The latter will be more pronounced heading towards the east of the country.
Temperatures will range from a comfortable 22°C in Ardenne to a balmy 27°C to 29°C on the plains. A light to moderate easterly wind will gradually shift to the southeast as the day progresses.
Intense rainfall and showers are scheduled for Saturday evening and the early part of the night.
Thunderstorms, heavy downpours in short bursts and strong gusts are predicted, particularly over the western half of the country which is currently foreseen as the most at-risk region for locally intense events.
Later in the night, the weather will calm and dry out, moving in from France. Temperatures will drop to between 13°C and 17°C.
The wind will blow moderately from the east, quickly turning south with the arrival of the disturbance (gusts could reach 70 km/h or more) before settling to be light to moderate.
Highs of 17°C to 22°C are expected on Sunday before a cooler spell sets in next week.
