Sweden and Denmark will jointly submit an official bid to host the UEFA Women’s European Championship in 2029, their football federations confirmed on Tuesday.

Earlier this year, the Scandinavian countries had already expressed their interest in the event. “The aim is to host the Women’s European Championship that attracts the largest audience ever,” they stated.

Sweden and Denmark will face competition from Portugal and Germany for the tournament. UEFA will announce the winner in 2025.

Denmark previously hosted the Women’s European Championship in 1991. Sweden hosted it in 1997 with Norway and alone in 2013.

The 2025 European Championship will take place in Switzerland from 2 to 27 July.
