The French National Assembly is preparing to relaunch its committees of inquiry into sexual violence in the film industry and shortcomings in child protection, according to parliamentary sources.
The committees' work had been interrupted in early June when the Assembly was dissolved ahead of France's legislative elections in July.
The two motions for resolutions aimed at re-creating the committees will be debated in the House on 9 October.
Before that, the subjects will be discussed in committees on Wednesday. The Social Affairs Committee is due to appoint a rapporteur at 09:00 on the subject of "shortcomings in public child protection policies." At 4.00 p.m., the Cultural Affairs Committee will examine a text put forward by parliamentarian Erwan Balanant.
Initiated in May following revelations made by actress Judith Godrèche against filmmakers Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon, the committee of inquiry into sexual violence in the film industry was extended to include ''the audiovisual, live performance, fashion and advertising sectors.'' Before it was dissolved, its report had been expected in early November.
The committee of inquiry into child protection, which was set up in May at the request of the Socialist Group, also came to a screeching halt at the beginning of June, leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of associations and professionals in the sector.
