A new wave of cyberattacks targeted Belgian websites on Thursday morning.
The attacks specifically targeted the websites of Febelfin, the federation of the Belgian Financial Sector, and the Economy Ministry, according to the Centre for Cyber Security Belgium (CCB).
The Russian collective NoName057 was behind the DDos attacks, which overwhelm servers with a high volume of requests, ultimately freezing them.
The Russian group posted a message on Telegram at 09:08 on Thursday to announce their actions. The CCB confirmed the attacks shortly afterwards.
The Economy Ministry website was accessible again less than half an hour after the announcement. However, the Febelfin website remained blocked.
The CCB emphasised that these attacks are not dangerous. This is the fourth consecutive day of cyberattacks in Belgium.
