A man’s lifeless body was discovered in Schaerbeek on Thursday morning, according to Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Yasmina Vanoverschelde.

The Public Prosecutor has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances and cause of death.

"At around 07:15, the Brussels-North police zone was called for an unconscious person near the intersection of Boulevard Lambermont and Chaussée de Haecht," stated the spokesperson. "Emergency services arrived quickly but sadly could only confirm the person’s death."

Police established a security perimeter, and a forensic team along with a medical examiner arrived at the scene. The victim has yet to be identified, and the cause of death remains unknown.

"The investigation is just starting, and in the interest of the case, we will not make any further comments at this time," concluded the Public Prosecutor.
